The Hawker 400XP is the result of years of redesigns by Raytheon Aircraft Corporation after having purchased the production rights from Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, where it was designed to be the best private jet for the business charter jet industry, and dubbed the Mitsubishi MU-300 Diamond. Beechcraft modified the design and started its manufacture at their facility in Kansas, naming it the Beechjet 400.
