There are only three ways to fly in a private jet, you either charter, you buy a fractional share or buy the naircraft outright. Each alternative has its own advantages and disadvantages.
Private Jet Charter – It is possible and economical to charter a private jet from a private jet company offering private jet charter services if your flight needs are only occasional or you are concerned about the capital depreciation resulting from owning and aircraft, also involving maintenance costs, operational costs, flight crew hiring and paying. There are a number of private charter companies offering various levels of servcies, some local, some regional, some national and others international. Some offer charters in only a selection of aircraftb types, others make all types available, from helicopters to jumbo jets. Some provide only aircraft charter services, the more sophisticated ones also offer ancillary services, like limousines to and from airports, catering, on-board services like hairdressers, massages and the like. The more progressive and sophisticated companies also offer extra services like ground reservations for hotels, tours, dining, personal services, etc.
Private Jet Fractional Ownership – You can choose to purchase only a fraction of an airplane from a private jet company offering partial ownership arrangements. The advantages of fractional ownership are far lower costs and not having to deal with maintenance arrangements, crew hiring issues and licensing requirements. The disadvantages of fractional or partial ownership are that the availability of the aircraft has to be shared among the fractional owners and as such the aircraft may not always be available at exactly the time needed for the desired trip. Especially during holidays most owners may wish to utilize the aircraft and only one can do so, while the others have to adjust their schedules and preferences to accommodate the prior reservations.
Buy A Private Jet Outright: If you have the financial resources, you can acquire a private jet outright. Private airplane ownership involves far more expenses than simply the initial purchase price. The other expenses involved are routine and periodic maintenance, regulatory safety inspections, governmental licensing, crew hiring and salaries, hangaring expenses, fueling costs, equipment upgrades and other incidental expenses. The clear advantages of outright ownership are the abilities to fly anytime and anywhere you like on very short notice.
